Research Park at Florida Atlantic University Connects to Florida LambdaRail

Research Park Companies Utilize Fiber Optical Network for  High Speed Communication and Superior Interconnectivity

Boca Raton, FL – The Research Park at Florida Atlantic University has signed a long-term agreement with Florida LambdaRail (FLR) to meet increasing demand for advanced data communications services, becoming the first research park in the state to do so.  As a result of this agreement, companies at the Research Park will be able to collaborate on cutting edge research with other companies throughout Florida, the nation and around the world.

The Research Park at Florida Atlantic University is the only state university affiliated research park in South Florida, and is home to 23 companies that collectively directly support 952 high skill high wage jobs.  The Research Park’s Technology Business Incubator hosts 22 technology companies and is also home to the Florida Institute for the Commercialization of Public Research, New World Angels and the Enterprise Development Corporation of South Florida (EDC), which manages the incubator.

The Florida LambdaRail enables participants to collaborate on research projects quickly by sharing vast amounts of data using a high fidelity, high speed, and high capacity fiber network.  It also connects those participants domestically and internationally to Internet2, a national fiber optic network supporting research and education throughout the United States. The FLR is a high-performance experimental, research, and production networking and support infrastructure that enables participants and their partners to collaborate on advanced research, education and 21st century economic initiatives.  FLR provides opportunities for Florida university faculty members, researchers, and students to work with colleagues anywhere in the world.

Established in 1985, the 94-acre Research Park ( is home to 23 technology companies working in conjunction with the FAU College of Engineering and Computer Science, the FAU Charles E.
