South Florida flight cancellations continued Wednesday as a winter storm that shut down much of the South churned up the coast Wednesday, dumping heavy snow across the Northeast up to New England where hundreds of cars spun out and schools and businesses shut down.
By 9 a.m. Wednesday at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport there were already 75 cancellations and numerous delays, according to information provided by Broward Aviation spokesman Grey Meyer.
Twenty-seven of the cancellations were departures while 48 were arrivals.
Among the airports affected were those in: Atlanta, Baltimore, Boston, Hartford, Philadelphia, Providence, Long Island, Newark, NY LaGuardia, NY JFK, Raleigh-Durham and White Plains.
Cancellations were also showing on the flight status boards at Palm Beach International Airport and Miami International Airport.
Travelers to any destination along the east coast are urged to check with their carriers before going to the airport.
