A South Florida church and advocates are calling on the government to grant more rights to illegal immigrants and for the state not to enact an Arizona-type immigration law.

About 100 people marched through a West Palm Beach street on Saturday.

Many said they were concerned Florida lawmakers would pass a proposed law requiring police to check illegal immigrants’ status during lawful stops and for immigrants to carry legal paperwork.

Others called for immigration reform that would allow illegal immigrants to become more incorporated into mainstream society, pay taxes, buy homes and hold legal jobs.

The march was organized by the Church of All Nations in Boca Raton.
