Florida is the most popular destination for Brazilians coming to the U.S., accounting for 22% of the total Brazilian population in this country. It is followed by Massachusetts (17%), California (11%), New York (10%), and New Jersey (10%). Collectively, these five states account for 70% of the total population of Brazilians who showed up in the 2010 U.S. Census.
Today, we have 1.25 million Brazilians living in the United States.*1 In Florida, we have more than 270,000 and our community is well organized.* 2 The Brazilian community is the largest emerging ethnic group in the cities of Deerfield Beach and Pompano Beach.*3
